Even though COVID has currently limited my practice to telehealth only, I’ve decided to continue to maintain my physical office at 1598 Pearl St #2. This actually helps me keep my sanity: During COVID, I can actually get out of the house for a change; it also allows me to have a dedicated space where I can meet with you. Finally, when the pandemic slowly ends, I’ll be able to restart in-person sessions without competing with everyone else who is looking for office space.
I’m licensed to provide therapy across all of Oregon. In a nutshell, this means that you can also use your insurance to pay for your sessions. Our teletherapy (secure video) sessions will take place from my office in Eugene, Oregon.
I’m also licensed to provide therapy across all of Arizona. As it’s not practical to maintain two physical offices, I provide all services by teletherapy (secure video), even when I travel down to Mesa to visit family. Since the laws require both of us to be physically located in a state where I’m licensed, this solves the issue nicely. The most surprising thing about working in Arizona is how much people value the ability to have the convenience of teletherapy without the need to commute or travel.
If you’re located outside of Oregon or Arizona, I can work with you as a Life Coach. The feedback I’ve received from my clients is that they far prefer coaching instead of therapy. Coaching is more “goal oriented” rather than the “how does this make you feel” bit that tends to be associated with counseling.
Coaching excels at helping people overcome roadblocks that prevent them from fully living their life. It is designed for those that are prepared to receive specific, tangible guidance on how to achieve their goals. Whereas with counseling, a different approach is taken: A safe and supportive space is created so that one can explore questions like ‘where one is stuck’, ‘who one really is’ and ‘how to cope up with what one is facing in life’.
For coaching, the primary difference is in how we deal with any problems. For example, in therapy we might deal with a fear of being judged by others by examining what led you to that point, discussing your underlying hidden feelings and attempt to change how you view this fear. With coaching, we would tackle the fear of being judged by looking at how your fear of being judged is impacting your life, identifying what change would look like, and developing specific strategies to tackle and overcome this fear.
