Certified Gottman Therapist & Licensed Clinical Social Worker
I specialize in helping couples transform destructive patterns into meaningful connection. After two decades of working with relationships, I’ve found that lasting change happens when both partners are ready to examine their contributions to recurring patterns and commit to developing new skills together.
My Approach to Therapy
As a Certified Gottman Therapist, I provide a structured, evidence-based approach that goes beyond traditional talk therapy. I believe in getting to the heart of issues quickly and developing practical tools you can apply immediately in your relationship.
My style is direct and solutions-focused. I won’t waste your time with endless processing or vague advice. Instead, I provide clear guidance and straightforward feedback, balanced with genuine compassion for the challenges you’re facing.
I’ve helped couples successfully navigate:
- Communication breakdowns that escalate into damaging conflicts
- Rebuilding trust after betrayal or infidelity
- Emotional disconnection that develops over years
- Imbalanced relationship dynamics
- The impact of individual trauma on relationship patterns
The couples who benefit most from my approach are those where both partners recognize there’s work to be done and are willing to engage in the sometimes uncomfortable process of meaningful change.
A Bit About Me Personally
- Eugene, Oregon is my home town
- I come from a family of mental health professionals: My wife is also a therapist, two of my sisters work in the field, and my father is a retired psychologist
- I learned to drive a stick shift on the hills of downtown Seattle.
- I’m pretty good with Star Trek trivia.
- I both love and shudder at the 80’s
- My two favorite books for personal growth are The Alchemist and Who Moved My Cheese
When asked how I’d like to be remembered, I think of a quote that resonates deeply with me: “He did very little harm.” In a world where it’s easy to unintentionally hurt each other, I strive to tread lightly while making a positive impact. If I could help couples create relationships where they do less harm to each other and more good, I would consider that meaningful work indeed.
