I know that taking the first step towards therapy can be daunting. But you’re not alone. When you’re feeling stuck, it’s often a sign that you’re ready for a change. Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions I receive.
Quick Summary
Do you have openings for new therapy clients?
Yes, I am currently accepting new individuals and couples, ages 18 and older. If you’re ready to get started, let’s get you scheduled and focus on making the changes you need!
What times are you available to meet?
My hours are currently Monday through Thursday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
How is your approach to therapy different?
My approach is different than most therapists: We’ll approach the issues in your relationship or personal life with accountability. In other words, I’ll call you on your B.S. if it’s getting in the way. Yet I am also strongly protective of you, as I want you to succeed – I’m in your corner, no matter what.
What are your qualifications and experience?
I’m one of 12 Certified Gottman Therapists in the state with extensive training in helping couples reconnect, communicate better, and feel closer to each other. I have also received training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) from the Beck Institute and have been in private practice since 2013.
How much does therapy cost?
The initial evaluation session is $240. During this time, we’ll explore what issues you’re struggling with, what you’re hoping to achieve, and how I can best support you. If you choose to continue working together, we’ll develop a personalized plan that fits your needs.
Individual Therapy
- Weekly sessions, $200
- Biweekly (every other week) sessions, $240
- Less frequent sessions, $270
Gottman Couples Therapy
Due to the emotional intensity of couples therapy, rates are based on session length:
- 60-minute appointments, $240
- 90-minute appointments, $400
- 2-hour appointments, $540
Do you take insurance for counseling sessions?
While most of my clients choose to pay out of pocket for greater confidentiality, I accept both PacificSource Health Plans and PacificSource Community Solutions (OHP). If you have a different insurance provider, I can provide a specialized billing statement for reimbursement using your out-of-network benefits.
Do you offer consultations before starting therapy?
When my schedule permits, yes. The consultation option will appear when requesting an appointment if they are currently available. These consults let you experience my style and approach, and ask questions before starting treatment.
Do you provide individual therapy?
Yes, about 30% of my clients are individual therapy clients. For individual therapy, I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Do you provide in-person therapy?
Yes, at my office in Eugene, Oregon at 2440 Willamette Street, Suite 101-C. Because we’re meeting in person, I’m committed to being COVID-conscious, and this means active HEPA filtration and continuous forced-circulation of fresh, outdoor air.
Do you provide sessions virtually via teletherapy?
Yes, for all telehealth sessions I use Zoom. Surprisingly, many of my clients say they feel just as comfortable and open during virtual sessions. Virtual sessions work especially well for couples when you and your partner are in different locations due to work obligations.
How long will therapy take?
It’s no surprise that this depends on your situation. Some people find what they need in a few months, while others might take longer. After our first session, I’ll have a better idea of what might be involved. The goal isn’t just to get you in and out – it’s to achieve lasting, meaningful change in your life.
